Quadrocycle
Originally this was one of the first posts on the website, but instead of having it confined to the archives to be overlooked by people, i have decided to give the Quadrocycle it’s own dedicated page, things like this are too important to forget.

This might be the only photo in existance of the quadrocycle.
What is it? It was a means of transport for a one legged man, who used to push himself backwards in his wheel chair.
Where was it located? Out in the wops of Rotorua.
Who built it? A hillbilly out the back of the tin shed, smoking something, wearing dirty clothes and stinking the place up.
How it works? The rider sits on the seat, and inserts their foot into the steering hole, the bike is propelled forward with the turning of the hand pedals. The so called “brakes” are situated where the normal bikes seats would be. It also has the ability to have the normal wheelchair hooked/tied on the back.
What are the risks? Due to it being lop sided, the risk of rolling into the middle of the road is quite high. Without the highly sophisticated, custom fitted piece of black ducting over the chain the likelyhood of having one’s nuts ripped off is quite high. Due to the unique steering arrangement of the Quadrocycle, if one of the front wheels were to hit a rock, you would probably break your ankle as the wheels spun to one side.
What sort of distance can it cover? Depends on how determined the rider is, but it has been known to cover distance in excess of 12km’s.
Where is it now? Probably in a rubbish dump somewhere, or maybe just rusting gracefully in a paddock.
If you know where the Quadrocycle is, or you have seen it in action let me know. Let’s all enjoy the wonder that is the Quadrocycle.
